Projects
Current Projects:
Community Development
We are creating a comprehensive, holistic, sustainable, replicable, environmentally friendly, culturally and technologically appropriate, profitable model environment where participants, such as teachers, pastors, women and children, community leaders and handicapped individuals, could acquire hands-on experience and training in order to benefit themselves, their communities and school environments and become responsible stewards of God’s creation. Subjects such as rainwater harvesting and water filtration, Farming God’s Way methods and other sustainable agricultural practices, animal husbandry, micro-business ideas and waste recycling will be offered.
Since approximately 85% of Tanzanians are agriculturalists, the agriculture methods for drastically increasing yields of staple crops and gardens will be our highest priority.
Agriculture
The average African farmer in Tanzania farms about an acre of land each year. The average African family needs about 1.3 ton (2650 pounds) or 10-12 bags of maize to survive each year. But the average yield stagers around 300 pounds per acre or 2-4 bags.
What we are doing to help:
- We conduct Farming God's Way agriculture training seminars throughout the year. Our goal is to teach and train local leaders in FGW in order for them to teach and train their own people. This is an ongoing project and together we will break the yoke of poverty.
- We are currently working with many different local Maasai who live in the surrounding villages just outside our home base.
- We are also working with a community of Maasai in a small village known as Enkeua.
- We are also training leaders within the Christian Mission Fellowships (CMF) leadership college. They have now established FGW as part of their training curriculum.
Water
According to the 2006 United Nations Human Development report, "Nearly one billion people lack access to clean water. More children die from water related illnesses than AIDS, malaria and measles combined. And every 20 seconds a child dies from a water related disease. "
What we are doing to help:
- We have also partnered with Wild Hope International in helping the Enkeua community receive clean drinking water. We are currently hand digging wells in the community in order to achieve this goal. The well is now completed.
- We will soon be implementing and training local Massai within the Enkeua community in rainwater harvesting techniques. More to come in the future.
- We are also providing local water filters in order for locals in the villages to have clean drinking water. One filter cost $30 USD and last up to five years. Another filter cost $15 USD and last up to 1.9 years.
Rabbits
We have a small rabbit project as well. We are training locals in good Godly animal husbandry principles in order to raise health rabbits for a good source of protein for their famil's diet.
We currently have over 50 breeders for this project. We need financial assistance to help locals construct good quality housing for their rabbits. One rabbit hutch cost around $50 USD to construct.
